Tulsa Christmas Parades Combine for Historic Parade Event
After a brief split, the Tulsa Christmas Parade is going back to its roots by combining the Christmas Parade at Tulsa Hills and the Tulsa Christmas Parade Downtown into a single parade over the historic Downtown route.
Tulsa Christmas Parade Chairman Paul Ross said, “We are delighted the Tulsa Christmas Parade that has been held in Tulsa Hills in previous years is combining with our efforts downtown to continue this 80 year tradition.”
As a combined event, the two parades represent tradition, family values, and a Christ-centered reason for the season, and this year’s theme – “An Old-Fashioned Family Christmas” – aims to evoke the Parade’s 80-year history and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. Marching along a route that covers the historic heart of downtown Tulsa, the parade begins at 6pm on the 12th of December and features a variety of floats, balloons, classic cars and marching bands. Over 30,000 attendees are expected to bring the holiday spirit to an event that lights up the streets of Downtown Tulsa and raises money for a worthy cause.

This year the parade’s charity is Soldier’s Wish, which aims to provide the unmet needs of active duty and veteran service men and women by providing resources through donations and events. Sponsoring the events that enable the Tulsa Christmas Parade to raise funds for this worthwhile cause include: presenting sponsor American Waste Control, along with Feed Mr. Murph, Bank of Oklahoma, Chick-fil-A, ResourceOne, Tedford Insurance, Local Boost – Web and Marketing, Red Dog Construction, Sky Loft at First Place Tower, Currentland, and its official media sponsor, providing live coverage News Channel 8. The Tulsa Christmas Parade is still seeking additional sponsors for individual floats and balloons, as well as volunteers.
New this year is the addition of VIP seating, available for organizations that would like to reserve bleacher seating. VIP seating guarantees a prime view of the parade for groups and individuals, with bleacher seating available along most of the parade route.
